What is Occasional Care?
Occasional care is a centre-based service that supports families by providing flexible child care for children from birth to school age.
Carrington Occasional Child Care is licensed to care for 28 children at any one time.
Our centre allows you to leave your child in an early childhood learning environment to socialise and interact with other children, for short periods of time.
Who can use it?
Reasons for using this service may include part-time work, study, job seeking or other commitments that place demands on parent's time. Some children come along simply to play with other children.
You may book your child into our centre for up to 30 hours per month. We do however require you to book one week in advance.
How do children benefit?
The centre's focus is on providing a safe, caring and nurturing environment that is stimulating and encourages your child's participation. Our activities are based on children's interests and individual needs.
We encourage you to come along and visit our centre before deciding to leave your child. This provides the opportunity for your child to become familiar with the centre's environment.
How is it staffed?
Occasional Care employs four full-time staff members. Our staff are bilingual and come from different cultural backgrounds.
Is there a cost?
The centre does charge a fee, however we are an approved service, which means we are able to offer eligible families the Child Care Benefit to assist with fees.
Fees are paid by the hour at the end of each session.
What are the service hours?
We are open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm, bookings can be made one week in advance, with no waitlng list for enrolment.
