The Centre is open from 7:30am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday for 48 weeks per year and we close for 4 weeks at Christmas. Our qualified staff are experienced and enthusiastic and have an understanding of children's joys and problems. Daily activities are designed to assist the children to engage in social contact with others, to encourage them to express themselves in their physical and mental development and co-ordination. We hope your child's stay at Cottage Kids Long Day Care will be a happy, rewarding and enriching experience. We will do our best to make it so.
We will inform you of the vacancy by telephone and organise an interview if the position arises during the year.

Please feel to contact us to discuss your child care needs, we look forward to welcoming you and your child to our lovely centre.

Each group works to a planned weekly programme. Our programme consists of language, music, creative and physical activities. Our programme is developed to meet specific needs and interests of each child being programmed for. The individual activities planned, are also designed to help the children's individual social, intellectual, emotional and physical development. Regular developmental assessments are carried out to assess their needs.
We like to include parents in our activities. If you can contribute anything relating to our programme (eg. Books, Pictures, reading etc.) it would be greatly appreciated by both children and staff. Please take this opportunity to join in our fun and learning experiences.
The children are provided with a variety of experiences throughout the day, both planned and spontaneous.
These may be teacher and/or child initiated and allow children the following:
- Close interactions with caring adults
- Opportunities to participate freely in learning experiences of their choice
- Opportunities to be alone
- The opportunity to be part of and identify with a group
- Predictability and consistency in both adults and daily routines
Staff plan on the basis of careful observation and evaluation to meet the needs of each individual child. Both indoor and outdoor programmes are displayed on the notice board at the beginning of each week. The staff also plan for daily group time experiences and are always more than happy to discuss these with the parents. The routines are flexible however, and spontaneous changes may be made from day to day in accordance with parent's suggestions and children's requests.

The Centre aims to provide the families with the opportunity to participate at all times in their child's care and education, and welcomes such participation.
We hope that parents will play an active role in the day-to-day running of the Centre. Specialised skills in such areas as craft, music, drama, science, mathematics etc. can be shared with the children. Dropping in for a visit during the day will give parents an insight into their child's development and allows for informal discussions on the child's daily experiences, which can be mutually helpful.
From time to time parents may be approached to assist the Centre in various ways. For example by: coming along on excursions, providing scrap material, serving on committees. Any help will always be appreciated and it is a good way to get to know the staff, other parents and the children.
