The staff at Juniors are integral to the care, enjoyment and safety of the children at the centre. Our early childhood educators are provided with regular in-house training and assistance in furthering their own qualifications.
Juniors Child Care has consistently achieved a High Quality Accreditation rating since 1998 by the National Childcare Accreditation Council (NCAC) and follows DOCS guidelines.
We are open 50 weeks of the year (and there is an end of year 2 week break) and closed on all Public Holidays.
Our hours of operation are: Monday to Friday 7:30am - 5:30pm
"A good beginning that lasts a lifetime!"
It is the belief of Juniors Child Care Centre that each child is an individual and therefore, has individual needs, feelings and interests. We aim to provide high quality care that will nurture the emotional, intellectual, physical and social development of each child by providing:
a SECURE ENVIRONMENT where children are able to develop bonds of trust with staff who have consistent and realistic expectations of the children in their care
an accepting and HAPPY ENVIRONMENT for all children to be treated equally regardless of their gender, social or cultural background by building on and fostering each child's self-esteem by developing strong feelings of self worth
a HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT through teaching and practising good hygiene and providing a nutrition program which caters to the daily essential requirements for good health and growth of infants and young children
a high quality, stimulating EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM where children can learn at their own pace with access to a wide range of resources
a QUALITY OF CARE, providing for the children a service that is safe and one which maintains the highest possible standard so that parents feel secure in leaving their children at the Centre
a happy, responsive and CARING TEAM OF STAFF, that recognise the vital role they play and the responsibilities they accept when working with children
an EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION between parents, staff and children. We believe that parents are the first and foremost significant educators of their children and we encourage them to join in the work of this Centre
There are two groups and each child is allocated to a room depending on their age and developmental stage:
Turtles room (Toddlers) 2 - 3 years Dolphins room (Preschool) 3 - 5 years
The children will experience:
Caring, dedicated and professional staff.
Opportunities to learn and develop to their full potential. A comprehensive range of learning experiences is programmed for the children to participate in each day, allowing choice, practice and challenge.
An opportunity to learn in their play experiences as an individual and as part of a group.
Opportunities to develop social behaviours which lead to independence and self worth through a positive and inclusive environment for all children, in which they are involved in decision making opportunities, to learn respect, fairness and social justice, and to accept diversity.
Pre-writing experiences which focus on the child's own learning capabilities which forms part of the school readiness program preparing them for their transition to school.
An interesting schedule of visitors and incursions throughout the year to further develop their sense of discovery and curiosity and to provide a stimulating environment with a variety of learning experiences.
A natural outdoor environment with trees, bugs, birds and vegetable garden patch.
A learning experience which is relaxed, fun and happy within a safe environment.
The daily program is designed with each child's growing knowledge and competencies in mind, and therefore, is a balance of experiences provided which are both teacher initiated as well as child initiated thus catering to individual needs and stages of development. Our curriculum incorporates all key components of a child's learning and development, such as cognition, music, drama, art, language and literacy, early maths skills and concepts, science, gross and fine motor coordination, and of course, socialisation.
Some activities you are likely to see on a regular basis include; painting, moulding clay and play dough, cutting and pasting, puzzles, construction (eg: lego), computer programs which develop problem solving skills, cooking activities, story reading and telling, music and dance, singing, indoor and outdoor games, sand and water play, dress-ups, role-plays and drama.
How is this done?
In developing the program for the children the whole child is taken into account. Five areas of development are developed: Language; Cognitive; Social; Emotional; and Physical (fine and gross motor).
Children are observed on an individual level and within the group. Checklists and running records (written observations) are used to identify children's progress in respect to their development. From these observations, objectives are set for the children to achieve. A program is then created with activities that will give the child the opportunity to develop the skill or objective that has been set.
Programs are displayed in both the Dolphins and Turtles room and developmental records may be viewed and discussed with staff upon request.
Nutritional, well-balanced freshly prepared home cooked meals. Meals include breakfast, morning tea, hot lunches, afternoon tea, milk, juice and water. We also cater to special dietary needs.
Individual portfolio/developmental records for each child containing photos, observations, developmental summaries, work samples and art work.
Half yearly and yearly report summaries, developmental checklists and end of year reports detailing each child's development.
A pre-school program (normally associated with 'traditional' preschools) for children in the Pre-School age group (3 - 5 years) within operating hours that meet the needs of working parents.
The latest in educational equipment both indoors and outdoors.
Qualified and experienced staff.
Fully air conditioned premises.
Sunscreen for your child when playing outdoors.
"This is my son's 3rd year at Juniors, I in fact transferred him from another local centre that I was not happy with and from that day have felt absolute peace of mind when my child is in the care of Juniors staff. Iggy and Helen Meliss and the staff care for the children like their own and I feel that Juniors is an extension to what I am trying to achieve at home. I look forward to when I can bring my daughter to Juniors when she turns 2 and know that she is in the capable and caring hands of Juniors staff". Suzann Cooper
"The centre has been a life saver for me as a working parent. I was not keen on leaving my children and going back to work but knowing they are at Juniors Child Care gives me peace of mind and they are in extremely good hands. I know they are going to be safe and have a great day there." Joanne (mother of 3)
"The staff are very professional and yet warm and friendly, always eager to discuss details of my children's day and ongoing development. They have always had time for me and I find them very approachable and easy to talk to." Steven (father of 2 boys)
"My children have benefited so much from attending Juniors Child Care. They have learnt sharing, respect, discipline and manners and this is very important to us as parents. We strive to teach them these values at home and it is great to see it reinforced at pre-school. It gives us reassurance knowing that they will be better equipped to handle situations for school years. The pre-school program for 3-5 year olds has prepared my children well for their transition to school life. They display much more confidence when interacting with other children. " Vera (mother of 2)
"Juniors Child Care is a fantastic place for children to grow up in. I have recommended Juniors Child Care to many of my friends and family and they have all felt the same way. Thank you to all the staff at Juniors and keep up the great work!". Athina Giannarakis
"Juniors feels right, the centre has a warm friendly atmosphere, with plenty of equipment and the children are happily involved in activities. Chris Luscombe
"It is very reassuring to know that your kids will be given nutritious, fresh, healthy meals throughout the day." My sons love the food at Juniors and often have up to 3 serves of lunch!. It's comforting to know that if they don't have much for dinner I know they have eaten well throughout the day." Steven
"It took us a long time to find the right centre for our son. I like the fact that the centre has a very open, fresh appeal to it and is surrounded with lovely trees and plants. Other centres can seem really sterile and closed in". Ms Lombardo
"I would not have any hesitation in recommending Juniors child care to anyone considering childcare, our children are the most important thing in the world to us and we certainly have made the right decision". Ms Li (mother of 1 boy and 1 girl)

Juniors Child Care Centre is approved under Federal Government guidelines to provide you with full access to childcare fee subsidies available.
This means that for many families their 'out of pocket' cost of their childcare fees can be less than half of the standard daily fee rate.
There two types of fee subsidies provided by the Federal Government: 1. Child Care Benefit (CCB) 2. 50% Child Care Tax Rebate (CCTR).
Both subsidies are managed by the Family Assistance Office (FAO). In order to receive either subsidy you will be required to register your family's details with the FAO. You will need to notify the FAO that your child will be attending Juniors Child Care Centre upon your child's enrolment in order to receive CCB when your child's commences.
Child Care Benefit (CCB)
The Child Care Benefit is a Federal Government childcare fee discount system. It is means tested and therefore not every family will qualify, but for those who do the discount can be as high as approximately $41 per day from the standard daily fee rate.
You can elect to receive the CCB fee subsidy in one of two ways:
1. Reduced Fee: the amount of your fee subsidy is deducted from the daily fee you pay to us, and we collect the CCB subsidy on your behalf from the Government; or
2. Full Fee: you may elect to pay the full daily fee to us, and then you claim a lump sum refund via the Family Assistance Office at the end of the financial year.
Child Care Tax Rebate
The Child Care Tax Rebate (CCTR) provides eligible families with a 50% rebate of their out-of-pocket child care fees, to a maximum of $7,500 per annum per child each year. Therefore, it is 50% of the fee paid after deducting the CCB subsidy stated above. The CCTR is paid at the end of each quarter.
The CCTR is not means tested therefore, most families are eligible to receive this, even if they are not eligible to receive CCB. For further information on the eligibility details can be found on the Family Assistance Office website http://www.familyassist.gov.au/
Registering with the Family Assistance Office
Registering with the FAO can be done in person at a Medicare or Centrelink Office, over the phone on 13 6150 or via the internet http://www.familyassist.gov.au/
You will need to advise the FAO that we are an "Approved Care" provider, and we are operating under "CCMS". You will also need to quote the Customer Reference Number (CRN) for Juniors Child Care Centre (CRN) 555 010 026X to advise the FAO that your child will be attending our centre.
If you are unsure about anything it is recommended that you contact the FAO for further clarification of your entitlements.
