At Little Angels Long Day Care Centre, we have an Indoor/ Outdoor program. This allows children to choose between many experiences set up inside and outside. Children have many different interests and enjoy a variety of activities. Children of various ages can mix and play with one another.
Children also participate in smaller group times throughout the day. Children have a primary caregiver who takes these groups' times. All experiences and groups are programmed by staff each week and are based on individual children's needs, strengths and interests.
The best learning experiences happen when children choose what they want to do (self direct play). Copies of the weekly program are displayed in the foyer. Our programm and curriculum allows activities to rise out of each childs interest, actions and events. Our curriculum is also negotiated what interests children and what adults know is necessary for their education and development. Staff also maintain individual children's developmental records (portfolios) and these are available to parents.
In preparation for kindergarten/primary school we introduce experiences and activities based on the following concepts and development.
The school readiness program incorporates experiences and activities which aim to encourage skills for children to prepare them for their transition to school;
