WE ARE A NUT AND EGG FREE ZONE
On the days you attend preschool, we ask that you do not eat Nut or Egg products for breakfast. (Peanut butter or nutella on toast; scrambled eggs etc).
We have children who attend that have life threatening allergies to these foods. It is critical that you are aware of this and adhere to this policy. We want to create a safe environment for all of the children and families that attend our centre.
OPEN DOOR POLICY
RevesbyUnitingChurch Child Care Centre has an Open Door Policy.
This welcomes parents or family members to visit any time.
Families are encouraged to visit to share any special talents or skills they may have or even share something from their work.
If you had any time to spare, we would also welcome you to share a story time or even share an experience such as cooking, music, craft, or any other ideas you may have.
Our daily program is very flexible, and may vary due to children's interests, weather and/or special events
Your child will be supplied with a hat when they commence at the centre.
We have T Shirts available, with a choice of 8 bright colours and our logo printed on the front.
Families really like their child wearing them as they aren't worried about them getting paint or stains on their preschool shirt! The playground looks wonderful with the sea of bright colours of children wearing their T-shirt. Children with bigger brothers or sisters like that they have a "Preschool Uniform". It can also prepare children for big School, as they will have a Uniform to wear.
At RUCCCC we are very aware that children have different needs. We have a proud history of catering for children with additional needs.
Staff are experienced and familiar with liaising with other professional services and facilitate meetings to support families and their children.
We have support agencies that we can access and refer you to with your permission.
They will develop a plan of action for your child for us to work on together.
There are a limited number of positions available. Contact us for more information.
We have a Child Centred Curriculum, where children's interests and social context are the basis for our planning and programming. Every child has a primary caregiver who will collect information and observations of your child to create a profile of their development. All of which is collated in a journal, which you will get to keep once children move on to "Big School"
Our Preschool rooms have trained staff to support and stimulate your child to help prepare them for "BigSchool".
We utilise various strategies and planned experiences which explore what big school will be like, have group discussions, read stories, look at photos of local schools, have school dress ups with local school uniforms and much, much more. Our policy outlines our approach.
We make a big list of the schools all of our children will be going to so families can see what friends the children will know at their Big School
We support children and their families with the transition to school when necessary. We liaise with school teachers and other professionals, and facilitate meetings and or reports as required.
We have New Parent Night on an evening in November for all of our new parents to attend. This evening allows us to provide you with a lot of important information about our Service, and share with you what your child will do while they are here! There will be time to meet your teachers, and time for questions.
When your child is due to start, we welcome and encourage you to come for a short visit or two before they start. This is a great opportunity for you and your child to meet their teachers, see how the room runs and meet some of their new friends. It will help your child to have a visual image to refer to when talking about the new exciting preschool they will be visiting.Talking about the teachers, mentioning names of the children your child met and will attend with, are ways to help prepare your child for their first day.
Your child's first day often causes more anxiety in Mums and Dads, than the children!
Some children are sad right from day one! It can be really hard to say good bye when your child is sad or anxious about separating from you. We encourage you to keep it positive, but short and sweet. "Mummy/ Daddy has to go now, but I will be back after lunch/late snack" etc.
You are welcome to ring anytime to check on your child. Be assured we will be honest with you, and understand it is hard to hear that your child is still sad. We know what we're doing, we have done it many times. All you have to do is look around and see most children are happy and settled (except maybe at the beginning of the year!!!), and be comforted in knowing that your child WILL settle eventually.
Other children tend to be fine from day one, but after a few times realise this is a long term arrangement and the novelty wears off! This can often catch parents off guard and this too, can be unsettling. We encourage you to persist, as our experience tells us they too will settle in fine.
Children are all individuals, and we will do our best to support you and your family to settle in at the centre. You know your child best, and you can share your knowledge with us.
Many of the staff are parents, and really do understand how hard it is to leave your child in our care!
All the staff realise that you are entrusting us with your most prized possession, and we will look after them as best we can.
